who shot ya

This, ladies and gentleman is my attempt at keeping my word that I am going to try to blog more so here goes...

********EXHALE*********

This has been a crazy week so far!! OMG I cant even begin to tell you all the obstacles that have been thrown at me!! I feel like God is playing dodge ball with me lol but its all good cuz I am still standing. I am so glad I am off Friday. We are suppose to drive to Tennessee for my uncles funeral but because my hubby and I lost two nights of sleep, we may not be able to make that drive.. makes me sad but its life I guess.

Moving on, lets discuss flu shots, shall we? sooooo, when I was a sophomore in college I was talked into getting a flu shot. I had heard and read so many times that people get sick when they get flu shots and that they really aren't necessary. Well this particular year I went to the snow health center at EMU and got it for free. The chick and the doctor PROMISED I would be fine, no more than a runny nose. I gets home, things seem ok at first.. next day, had a slight fever, runny nose.. next day I thought I was going to die! Hot flashes one minute then freezing the next. coughing, sneezing, nose was definitely running. I ended up missing class and stayed home. Hubby at work callin me every hour. Around eleven I stopped answering. Naturally he became worried.

After I didn't answer for two hours, he comes home and finds me sleep under the space heater with a temp of 103.1. He went in the bathroom to get a cold towel and saw the blood I had been spitting up in the sink. (guess I was too dazed to rinse it out, smh) He came out, got me dressed, put me in the car and took me to the ER where THEY TELL ME I HAVE THE FLU AND I AM SEVERELY DEHYDRATED. WTF? UGHHHHHH!!!! I had to be admitted and have IV's and stuff til I got better..

Now, because of this experience I have refused to get one since. So last Monday I am in the doctors office with my boys. Doctor and I choppin it up about how much they've grown, we are talking about puberty and stuff and he suggests to my hubby and I that we get them flu shots. My husband throws me this "oh shit" look and I look at him like "what do we do?".... I tell the doc no thanks, I had a bad experience with the flu shot and he tells me since my love bug is in a daycare with so many other kids that he reaaaaaaallllllly should have one and my oldest should too since he is in school. I think about it and agree that my kids can have it. What do you think happened next?

T H E Y B O T H G O T S I C K ! ! ! !
Runny nose, very high fever, my oldest sounding like he cant breathe, my baby choking on his mucus in his sleep!! OMG I could go whup on that Dr. for about 5 good uninterrupted minutes! He is so lucky I love him. Luckily, all of that seems to be over now and I am looking forward to a happy healthy FLU FREE winter.

Thats enough for now, don't want my post so long you stop reading, lol and wink wink to those of you who get it...I am off to the gym now =) Have a nice night!

See, this one reason why I'm trying avoid getting my little one his shot this year because it never fails, we both end up with a mild cold. I just don't know if i want to deal with that again. But with him in daycare, i don't want to risk it.

I never get flu shots. However, if you work in a hospital or daycare it is needed. I will say that if you get flu shots every year you won't get sick. But if you get the shot rarely, prepare for hell.

Best advice? Wash your fucking hands and don't rub your eyes often and shit. Best way to stop from getting sick. Oh yeah, vitamin C and sleep are both important as well.

Loved the anger in the blog.
